Vintage Hermès 1950s Black Box Calf Leather Bag

Every vintage bag is unique, but vintage Hermès is even more because of their craftsmanship, the luxurious materials used (fine leather), and of course the heritage.

A timeless Palonnier box calf bag from the 1950s, and still in such amazing condition — such a precious vintage piece.
How did I even get to source this beauty? (Prayers answered. My heart can't handle this!)

It looks so chic and sleek as a top handle bag (or crook of the arm), but the handle is long enough for wearing on the shoulder too. This bag is made to last because the size, material, and design of the handle is just perfection!

Imagine the chic lady that used to carry this back in the 50-60s, and now you get to own a piece of that history.

This bag has NOT been re-dyed or processed. Leather is still in its original form, with a beautiful luster, so it feels amazing every touch (especially the lambskin leather on the interior, the softest ever). No weird creasing or cracks either!

The hook clasp opening design is absolutely stunning. Such a quiet luxury piece.

It comes with original vintage Hermes dust bag which is all the better as a collector's item!

I have no plan to retouch this bag prior selling, as I think the vintage condition is actually pretty good, and ultimately the owner should make this decision!

I did get a quote from professional bag spa in Japan that expertise in Hermès hand bags, mostly on lightly retouching the surface and condition the bag deeply.

Exterior
• Material: black box calf leather
• Hardware: gold hardware, generally good condition with some surface scratches and wear. Gold tone remains beautiful.
• Corners: good condition
• Base: good condition
• Creases/cracks: none
• Scratch: some light surface scratches on both the front flap and the area under the flap (where it's most used); the back side has visibly less scratches, and the condition is quite nice - except for a very light mark from storage. Looks like the handle was pressed against the back side during storage. Refer to photos for more details.
None of these impact use and honestly considered really nice for such a vintage bag!
• Discoloration: basically zero on the main body - except a small and light brown mark next to the right hand side gold hardware, as it must've been transferred from the handle during storage. Another similar brown mark under the gold latches, for the same reason of gold hardware pressed against the leather. Both are very light though. Refer to photos for more details.
• Opening latch: in good condition, works perfectly fine. Two rounded part at the bottom has slight tarnish (but it's super small). See photos.
• Handle: in great condition

Interior
• Lining: black lambskin leather
• Compartment: 3, two of them as main compartments, one slip compartment in the front
• Inner pocket: 1 pocket with flap closure, 3 small slip pockets for small items
• Zipper: none
• Smell: close to none, it has a very very faint soft perfume scent (or from leather conditioner?), only smell like it when put up close to the nose
• Condition: nice and clean, in good condition, some minor surface scratches as normal signs of wear but nothing major.

Comes with original Hermes dust bag.
